About

My principal research interest is in the mental health of older people.

I am currently investigating anxiety in older people, including those with Alzheimer's disease and related disorders. One aspect of this is the development and field-testing of a new scale to measure anxiety in people with dementia, the Informant Questionnaire for Anxiety in Dementia (IQAD). This builds on previous work that lead to the development of the Geriatric Anxiety Inventory (GAI) and its short form, the GAI-SF. These instruments are now available in more than 20 languages. This work has been carried out in collaboration with Nancy Pachana.

I am also investigating executive function and theory of mind in older people with psychotic disorders (schizophrenia and related conditions).
