About

I am a lecturer at the School of Architecture, The University of Queensland's, also affiliated with the Aboriginal Environments Research Centre, located within the  School.

I teach a number of courses, centred around people environment studies, specialising in Indigenous culture and place attachment. I teach into both undergraduate and masters courses in the professional architecture degrees. In addition I teach research seminars centred around research projects generated out of my PhD and other research.

I am completing a cross-disciplinary PhD on urban Indigenous places in contemporary Brisbane, analysing the place attachments of Indigenous people in Inala, in Brisbane’s outer South West. The research combines architectural interrogation with anthropological research, and investigates which places are important, how they came to be so, and how they link with Indigenous identity systems in Inala.

The research aims to establish the continuation of traditions in place maintenance and attachment, as well as newly emerging cultural activities and places with contemporary associations and attachments.
