About

I am currently undertaking a B.A. in anthropology and a B.Soc.Sc. in development at the University of Queensland.

I am interested in the insights of evolutionary theory in explaining human behaviour, especially morality, cooperation and empathy. Primarily I am interested in the bio-cultural evolution of morality through examining the cognitive and neural adaptations of empathy and trust and the social and economic evolution of cooperation, reciprocity and altruism.

I am also interested in the nature of economic development and social development, especially happiness. I am interested in the relationships between economic inequality, mass consumerism, social wellbeing and mental health. I am also increasingly interested in microeconomics and public economics in terms of public goods, negative externalities, market failure, competition regulation, Pigouvian taxation, welfare economics and behavioural economics. Moreover I have been increasingly interested in the fields of medical anthropology and public health, especially in the areas of mental health, preventative health policy, social epidemiology and the medical anthropology of happiness and wellbeing, and eating disorders.

I am also interested in social, political, moral and legal philosophy, especially when it comes to the role of government and regulation. As such I am interested in the normative frameworks of communitarianism and contractarianism. I am also interested in the philosophy of science, especially the philosophy of science and religion and the philosophy of physics, and epistemology and the frameworks of empiricism, positivism and naturalism.

I follow the research of Samuel Bowles, Herbert Gintis, Martin Nowak, Peter Corning, Oliver Curry, Frans de Waal, W. D. Hamilton, E. O. Wilson, Daniel Kahneman, Dan Ariely, Dacher Keltner, Mark D. Pagel, Jared Diamond, Bruno Latour, Bruno S. Frey, Yochai Benkler, Spencer Wells, Keith Hart, David Sloan Wilson, Paul Seabright, Richard Layard, John Helliwell, Robb Willer, James H.
